I think it took me about 1 ho...Yes, they work well. I think it took me about 1 hour to make 12 of them. I use 2 different sizes. I use a soup can if I only need them in a large pot for a few weeks to a month. If I need pots for starting seeds I use an old jelly mason jar and just wrap it around. I put no holes in it and only water when the peat starts drying out.
